Handsome greyhound Andy was retired from racing last year and has been looking for a loving home since September. He is our longest stay resident and, sadly, is one of those dogs that keeps getting overlooked by prospective new owners. He has a beautiful, placid nature and will make a wonderful pet and companion. He is looking for a home with no cats.

Hello my name is Dizzy!
I am in need of a new home, can you help?
Due to my owner’s personal circumstances I have had to move home, and I am now living in a garden from which I can easily escape, and regularly do. I need a well enclosed garden, and my owner will provide the fencing that she has had installed in her property, to a suitable home, if anyone reliable is interested in Dizzy. This would save someone a big outlay.
I also will have to be walked on a lead or I will go and look for rabbits and rats!
I am 4 years old, and I am spayed and vaccinated. I am extremely affectionate, and love people. I get on well with other dogs, but my owner’s cat gets fed up with me, so best not to have a cat.
I love to do tricks, my only other fault is I get car sick. Otherwise I know I will make a wonderful pet for the right person.
I am of course free to a very good home!
Please ring my owner Jo on 01794 884967 if you think you might like to visit or find out more about me.

This is the lovely Dylan. He was a stray and is currently in the care of the RSPCA. Dylan is about 2 or 3 years old, when he arrived he was very skinny and had quite a few cuts, however, these have now healed and he’s also looking a little chubbier than in the photo we have here. Dylan is a loving and gentle dog, he loves people and is good with other dogs, but can’t be homed with cats or small animals. Dylan is in the care of the RSPCA Maidenhead and East Berkshire Branch, just off Junction 7 of the M4 and we can arrange for people to see him Mon – Sat: 9am – 1pm / 2pm – 6pm and on Sundays: 9am – 1pm; closed bank holidays. If you would like to know more about Mack, or may be able to give him a home, please contact Sue, the Re-homing Co-ordinator Maidenhead & East Berkshire RSPCA, on 07852 481079 or e-mail sue@nszstewart.free-online.co.uk’

This gorgeous greyhound is Gooch, who was 4 years old in May, and has the most laid-back nature, very affectionate and loves human contact. He was retired from the racing scene in 2007 since when he has been socialised to a degree, with walks in Killarney national park where he was introduced to a variety of dogs and humans of all shapes and sizes, taking it all in his stride. Also taken into the house occasionally and is reported as being one clean dog. He is being fostered by Jane, and she feels sure that he will settle to the soft home life with no fuss and will make someone a great companion. He is living in Hampshire at the moment, and is looking for a new home in Hants or an y of the surrounding counties. Whoever is out there, feeling that they could offer the home he deserves, please talk it over with Jane, phone number 07761895437.

Handsome greyhound Indigo Sooty has recently been retired from racing and is a loving home. These are his owner's words.
" Indigo Sooty is a black dog just two years old this month, and has never suffered an injury or illness. His racing weight was approx 70lbs He’s a friendly dog who has been brought up with children around the kennels, and should make a good pet.
He has only had 5 races but never won, I think he’s too clever to chase a mechanical hare!
He was bred in Ireland and came over here at 14 weeks old, and has lived at the racing kennels since.
The kennels are near Sandy in Bedfordshire.
If you would like to see him or need further information please ‘phone his trainers Terry and Marlene Westwood on 01767 692345, or on Terry’s mobile 07831 184365.
Alternatively you can ring me (Steve) on 07979 657354 at any time."

Well my racing career did not even get out of the starting blocks. I am a tattooed greyhounds who, although registered for racing, never raced.
Smallish good looking male, thats me, who walks well on the lead and gets along with the other Greyhounds in the kennels. My sisters are Ruby and Pixie who have just been re-homed.
I am quite a softy at heart and I do love a nice cuddle after my walk in the morning.
My new home must have no small animals.
Kennel life is good but I long for a nice cozy sofa and some human company.
Children need to be slightly older as I can get a little excited when I am around new people.

Jack and Sandy have sadly found themselves needing a new home due to the sad loss of their Dad. They are currently in residence with Carla his daughter and husband and two dogs of their own.
Carla is not able to keep four dogs longterm but understandably doesnt want to see these two back in kennels as Sandy the black and white girl especially can be nervous and they dont want to see her set back.
As lovely as it would be to find these two a home as a pair we totally understand and appreciate that that may not be possible so are willing to home them individually AS LONG AS THERE IS ANOTHER DOG IN RESIDENCE. We also need to look for foster homes for them to go into.
Here is what Carla has to say about the dogs.....
Jack is a 5 year old male greyhound with very good social skills as he has been away from a racing environment and living in a home for 2 years. He lives with a greyhound bitch called Sandy as well as a grehound/collie x bitch and a male labrador. He also gets on well with all our family's visiting dogs which range in sex and in size from the very large to very small. He loves to play with other dogs in the garden but is not really sure what to do with toys so will usually watch them play and join in the running around bit. Jack is very tolerant of the other dogs and very laid back in the home. He sleeps alot and likes nothing better than to lie next to you on the sofa with his head on your knee for a stroke. He will sit there all day (and longer I think) for a cuddle! He is very good with children even our very loud and excitable neice! He has starting sleeping on the furniture which we have allowed but is just as happy on the floor or hearth in front of the fire.
He has been used to 3 short walks a day but is happy enough with a play in the garden (and a dig!) and a little toddle out occasionally. He has been let off the lead but only when he is really used to the area as he is very fast and does laps.
He does jump about sometimes when he sees other dogs on the pavement but will walk past them and is not aggressive if they come over to him. We think he is just desperate to play with them. He is however not really a cat person and so would be best off in a non feline environment. He is however living in a house with 2 pet rats at the moment and doesn't seem bothered by them in the slightest. Jacks ideal home is with someone without cats and who will give him the love he is desparate for but other than that he's quite an adaptable chap. He is vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and neutered. He is good to be left with or without the company of other dogs and is totally non destructive. He also travels well in the car. Jack needs a new home through absolutely no fault of his own as his owner has sadly passed away - he deserves a 5* permenant home to live out his days in as he is a very special boy.

Rough coated lurcher Juke came into the rescue because of a domestic split. He needs a home with someone who must understand his sensitivity and give him time to settle, and should participate in training.
Jules is good with smaller calm dogs. In the home he may fight over food or toys. He is not good with cats. He cannot be left - needs to learn as he chews and barks if he is left. Someone with
nervous dog experience is recommended.
Juke is very sensitive and takes time to warm to people and situations. He can become panicky if he feels hemmed in by people. Juke needs a very calm home with no conflict or he won't cope. Will be loyal once settled. He has been neutered.

Lovely greyhound Louis needs a new home because his owner has had to move from a spacious house into a very small one with her 4 children, her lurcher Molly, and Louis. Her health problems mean that she is not able to take him for walks much, and lthough Molly is older and happy to stay in the garden, Louis is not.
These are his owner's words: "
The lack of space means that Louis, is for ever being moved out of the way, as we only have one living room, and it isn't fair on him. My health probelms mean I have not been able to take Louis out as much as he should be. I want him to have asgood a life as he can, and he is not going to have that with me.
What can I tell you about him?
He was a racing dog for 3 years, then cared for by the lady I got him from, for 3 years.
She had to move when her marriage ended, and she was moving to a small flat which was
unsuitable for him.
He is approx 28 inches at the shoulder. He is fawn with white chest and feet.
He is neutered. He is friendly to all people, and good with children.
He cannot be kept with cats, and is not always good with other dogs.
He is food obsessed, eating all day if he was able to.
He prefers to sleep on a settee, but has been on the floor at this house and still sleeps well.
He dreams lots, and runs and growls in his sleep, which has amused us all.
I have fed him on complete food since I have had him. He doesn't bark much, unless he's
hungry or excited. He is about 8 yrs old now".

Rough coated lurcher Rufus was found as a stray. He needs a home where he will be the only pet and where any children are at least 8 years old. He likes bitches but can be growly with male dogs. It is shelter policy not to rehome this breed with cats or small animals. He is not to be left for more than 2 hours at the most, and may be clingy. An experienced dog owner is required.
Rufus is extremely sensitive and soulful and is looking for someone kind to understand him. He is quite reserved and aloof with strangers but scratch the surface and he is a dog with a heart of gold. Needs a quiet but active life.

Here is what Carla has to say about the dogs.....
Sandy is a 6 year old female greyhound with very good social skills as she has been away from a racing environment and living in a home for 2 years. She lives with a greyhound dog called Jack as well as a grehound/collie x bitch and a male labrador. She also gets on well with all our family's visiting dogs which range in sex and in size from the very large to very small. She loves other dogs but is very timid so will usually watch them play from the sofa! Sandy is very tolerant of the other dogs and very laid back in the home. She sleeps alot but she does like regular walks and will come and ask for them at the appropriate times during the day! She is excellent with children even our very loud and excitable neice who has been walking her and spends her evenings trying to get Sandy to play with her! She has starting sleeping on the furniture which we have allowed but is just as happy on the floor or hearth in front of the fire. She has been used to 3 short walks a day and has been let off the lead but only at home when she was used to the area. She does come back to her name even when other dogs are about.
She is perfect on the lead and you barely know she's there as she walks to heel. She does like to do a lot of stopping and sniffing though so she can drag out her walk. She is however not really a cat person and so would be best off in a non feline or small pet environment. Sandy's ideal home is with someone without cats and who will give her lots of love and take her on nice walks. She is vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and spayed. She is good to be left with or without the company of other dogs and is totally non destructive. She also travels well in the car. Sandy needs a new home through absolutely no fault of her own as her owner has sadly passed away - she deserves a 5* permenant home to live out her days in as she is a truly adorable girl.
of them has an RSPCA dog bed, leather collar and lead, fabric collar for in the house and spare fabric lead, muzzle, vaccination record, feeding stand with 2 metal bowls, shampoo and a tick remover and other bits and pieces. I would not part with them unless I really had to so I hope we can find them good homes - as i said before they can be homed separately.

Sasha was handed over to the rescue because her owner's new partner has cats. She needs a home where any children are calm and will respect her. She is good with other greyhounds, but can be intolerant of other breeds. She is not good with cats or small dogs. Sasha can be left for 2-3 hours. Sasha needs a home with someone with sighthound experience recommended as she is quite a chaser.
Sasha ia a lovely placid dog with people. She is very loving and excellent to handle and groom. She can be a bit unsettled and whingy in new situations but would suit a calm home with lots of attention. Has strong chase drive.
