| Information: Ember is a 2 year old collie x whippet girlie standing around 22 - 23 inches high.
Ember is a beautiful girl and a very easy dog to love. On the plus side Ember is a fabulous little dog with wonderful recall and fantastic off lead manners. She is very loving and responsive and 99 per cent of the time is very eager to please. However, Ember has another side that makes her slightly more of a handful. Although she is fine with other dogs in controlled situations and running off lead etc IF another dog makes a move to cause an aggresive situation Ember will and is more than capable of sticking up for herself and will get into trouble. Ember has energy that the rest of us aspire to. She is a very intelligent dog and needs a home who has the time and patience to continue the training she has already had. A home that is capable of occupying and working not only her physical body but her mind aswell. An agility, heelwork or more advanced obedience home would be ideal for her. She needs someone with good dog skills who is consistant and firm BUT fair. At the moment Ember needs more work with her lead manners. She will pull and whitter on the lead IF she thinks she can get away with it. With myself her behaviour is 100 per cent at all times because she knows that I will not accept it. We would recommend that she is walked in a head collar to begin with, we have used this technique succesfully with her and after half an hour switching to a collar see's her settled. We feel Ember would be happy to co exist with an older steadier male but that a bitch free environment would be best, she will not accept being bossed or shoved around by other female dogs. We also feel with someone around most or all of the time that Ember would happily settle and possibly benefit from being an only dog with more time and effort placed into her. Although Ember is fine with children we would recommend a home with older children 8 plus. Ember can be a little defensive around HER OWN food and treats so needs work with this and any children in the home would need to be old enough to understand not to mess with her at meal/treat times. Although Ember is a very independant soul and at times can have ideas of her way is the way it will be she is very easily swayed around to your way of thinking. She already has had so much work put into her and we continue to bring her forward all the time. This last month or so Ember is really showing that she is maturing and if someone wants six months of hard work to have a lifetime of fabulous obidience with a wonderfully fast moving, intelligent little dog and has the experience to make this happen they will have their dog of a lifetime. Ember is vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and spayed. |
