Chancepixies
Area Covered: Kent
Information: At Bridledown kennels we have dedicated 18 kennels to service the care and welfare of stray and unwanted dogs in the area. We are contracted to number of the local authorities and Police stations with whom we work closely to provide accommodation for any dog that comes in to their care. We are pleased to have achieved preferred partner status and proud to provide this service. Uniquely, due to the layout of the premises, we are able to offer isolated blocks so there is dedicated space to receive any stray animals in the area. As they are isolated the risk of cross contamination between the strays and other guests are greatly reduced. We can never tell if their inoculations are up to date so isolation is essential. As this is a very well established kennel with regards to the boarding of stray animals we are thankfully able to reunite the vast majority of lost pets with their owners. Due to the kennels being well established any dogs who are not reclaimed for whatever reason have a very good chance of being re homed quickly as we have many enquiries each day from people who are looking for a new companion. We are proud to service the community in this way.

Greenfields Greyhound Rescue
Area Covered: Greenfields Greyhound Rescue specialises in the rehoming of ex racing greyhounds and other sighthounds in Staffordshire, Cheshire, Shropshire, North Wales and Flintshire areas.
Information: Greenfields Greyhound Rescue was set up in the hope that we could make a small difference to the thousands of racing greyhounds which are abandoned ever year. Experienced sighthound owners ourselves, we were very aware of the special qualities of this majestic breed and wanted to enable other people to enjoy them as pets. We tend to specialize in rescuing and rehoming retired racing greyhounds but sometimes have other sighthounds and lurcher available too. We are a small rescue and take pride in knowing all our dogs well which enables us to match the right dogs to the right home. Often when a greyhound retires from racing they have seen very little of life outside their racing kennels and usually have not even come across dogs of other breeds. We start to rehabilitate them by introducing them to other animals, washing machines, televisions etc so that when they are ready to find a home they find it easier to settle in. If you would like to rehome one of our dogs please click on the "Greyhounds for Rehoming" page

North Lakes Lurcher and Longdog rescue
Area Covered: I cover the whole of Cumbria and dogs are re-homed to any part of the country.
Information: I run "North Lakes Lurcher & Longdog Rescue" , from my home in the Lake District.I set up the rescue 8 months ago ,after being asked to do so by the local council and dog wardens. It is a small rescue and the dogs are not kennelled out. The dogs come to me, live in the house and are assssed with children , other dogs , cats , sheep , hens , horses , stock , and life in general. If the dogs have never lived indoors, I house-train them and get them accustomed to the T.V. , hoover , etc. I find this really helps the dog to find a home a lot more quickly and easily.I get to know each dog very well and can tell prospective owners , how the dog reacts to most situations and any insecuraties the dog may have. All dogs leaving the rescue are vaccinated , chipped , wormed , de-flea'd and if not neutered , come with a free neutering voucher. I cover the whole of Cumbria and re-home to any part of the country , following a successful vets' reference and home check. Enquiries always welcome.

Tailends
Area Covered: UK and Ireland
Information: Tailends is based in Croyde in north Devon. Tailends exists to take in elderly or terminally ill dogs (often - but not exclusively - greyhounds). Our dogs come from situations of abuse or neglect and are unlikely to be re-homed in the normal way. The greyhounds have normally lived their entire lives in kennels - initially as racing dogs and then kept in bleak conditions out of sight of the general public and with no chance of a home. They have rarely received any veterinary care or pain relief. Some have been fed poor quality food and had infrequent access to clean fresh water. They have sometimes been housed, without coats or proper bedding, in kennels that provide limited protectionfrom the weather. They commonly suffer from crippling diseases, untreated infections or old injuries. Our Mission... Tailends provide immediate veterinary treatment, warmth, comfort, loving care, appropriate walks and good quality food. Sometimes we can successfully treat and considerably extend the life of the dog. Sometimes we can only ensure that they receive the best veterinary attention in their final days and are comfortable and loved for the first and only time in their miserable lives. Tailends is constantly struggling to meet the continually increasing costs of caring for elderly and ill dogs. The biggest commitment is for veterinary treatment and drugs. The policy at Tailends is to give our dogs the most appropriate treatment, thereby ensuring that they have the very best quality of life possible. Several of our dogs are on expensive heart drugs and most are on some form of pain relief for arthritis or painful old injuries.

Handsome greyhound Andy was retired from racing last year and has been  looking for a loving home for 9  months.  Sadly, he is one of those dogs that  keeps getting overlooked by prospective new owners.  He has a beautiful, placid nature and will make a wonderful pet and companion. He is looking for a home with no cats.
